School uniform

Our school uniform colour is a combination of purple, white and black. Most items can be bought from High Street shops. Items marked with a * below, some of which have the school logo on, are available to buy at:

If you are unable to purchase items online, please contact the school office.  Whilst it is preferred that children will wear the jumpers and cardigans with the logo on, it is not compulsory.

• Purple v-necked jumper* or cardigan*, without a hood, either plain or with the Bishop William Ward logo. The colour should closely match that of the logoed uniform.
• Black skirt/pinafore dress/shorts/trousers
• Purple and white gingham dress
• White polo shirt/shirt/blouse
• Plain white or black short or knee length socks or black tights

Please note skirts and dresses should be an appropriate length and of a style which allows children to sit comfortably on the floor.

PE Kit

Children in Years 1-6 come into school wearing their PE kits on their classes PE days. It is hoped that this will mean better use of curriculum time, including more time to be active in PE lessons.  It will also mean that children will be able to have their kits washed more regularly.  We will only be expecting school uniform PE kits in school on these days (see the list below for details).  Children in Foundation Stage will still get changed for PE, as this is part of their learning time – developing independence.

PE kit:

• black shorts
• plain white round-necked T-shirt
• a pair of trainers that they can put on and remove independently
• black jogging bottoms and a plain sweatshirt for outdoor lessons in cold weather

PE days

Year 1:   Tuesday and Thursday

Year 2:   Tuesday and Wednesday

Year 3:   Thursday and Friday

Year 4:   Monday and Wednesday

Year 5:   Wednesday and Friday

Year 6:   Monday and Wednesday

For health and safety reasons, children are not permitted to wear earrings or any other jewellery for PE. Your child’s teacher will advise you when PE lessons take place so that earrings can be removed.  As earrings are needed to be kept in for the first 6 weeks following piercing, the school recommends that children have their ears pierced at the start of the summer holidays, in order to minimise disruption of their PE lessons.  Pupils will not be allowed to take part in PE if they are wearing earrings.
