Attendance

It is important that children arrive between 8.40 – 8.50am ready to begin learning. At Bishop William Ward, we expect all children to attend school every day and to keep their absences to a minimum.

Good attendance is celebrated in school. When a child is absent, parents/carers need to contact the school with specific reasons. Requests for absence of leave during term time are only authorised in the most exceptional circumstances.

Persistent absence (where a child’s attendance falls below 90%) is followed up by the school.  Initial monitoring and contact with parents will be made if attendance falls below 93%.
