No Outsiders
What is it?
No Outsiders is a part of our PSHE and Personal Development Curriculum. We want all children to grow up knowing that they belong and that they can treat others with respect, even when people are different from themselves. No Outsiders is designed to help children feel confident in who they are while developing kindness towards others.
The programme supports children in understanding that everyone is equal, everyone deserves respect and that we can get along with people who are different from us. We believe it is vital that children feel safe and included in school and to build positive relationships with others. In our diverse world we want them to see difference as a positive, not a barrier.
These ideas are rooted in the Equality Act 2010.
At our school there are no outsiders. Everyone belongs.
How do we teach it?
We use a range of carefully selected picture books to support our No Outsiders lessons. These books help children explore themes such as friendship, belonging, respect and diversity in an age-appropriate way. They are used to support discussion and reflection in a safe and age-appropriate way. They help children develop respect, empathy and an understanding that everyone is welcome in our school.
